2024 – 1st Rally Targa Sicilia

STAGE 2 / Cefalu – Taormine/ wednesday 17 april 2024

From Cefalu and the seaside, it was under a bright sun and an immaculate blue sky that we took another section of the Targa Florio, used before the war, to reach the center of the island, the opportunity to organize a regularity test just a stone’s throw from the start.



With this wonderfully winding morning, the participants enjoyed landscapes with remarkable views of towns and villages perched, perched, as if suspended on the tops of the hills, for a visual journey into authentic Sicily!



After a notable visit to the superb village of Gangi, lunch was planned halfway through, in a typical restaurant, La Torreta de Nicosia, with the majestic Etna standing before us.



A second classification test still had to be completed, with a rolling start, on the route of a local hill climb before reaching the magnificent Taormina at the end of the stage.



The competitors are staying this evening at Atlantis Bay, right on the waterfront of Mazzaro Beach, at the foot of the funicular leading to the old town, a gem that is absolutely worth visiting.
Tomorrow, a short stage on the northern slope of Etna awaits us, and the fight for the general classification promises to be epic between crews determined to do battle. An entire program !
