2024 – 1st Rally Targa Sicilia

STAGE 4 / Taormine – Syracuse / friday 19 april 2024

For this final stage of the 1st Targa Sicilia Rally, we had planned to climb the southern slope of Etna, as close as possible to the craters and impressive lava flows, but that was without counting on an unexpected snow storm which will have prevented us from continuing our progress towards the summit of the volcano.



During our reconnaissance visit Etna was active, with strong rumblings and plumes of smoke, and today we did not have the chance to take all the participants there. Only a few valiant crews managed to climb it, braving the snowy road.



Of course, while the regularity test and the passage control allowing access to Etna were canceled, the decision was taken to redirect the rally until lunch at Lo Zafferenetto, a typical and charming restaurant.



The afternoon allowed us to reach Syracuse by taking a winding road to compete in the last classification event of the rally and the last Quiz which will have decided the final classification.



While the Minareto Hotel welcomes us for the night, each participant enjoys a moment of relaxation before the prize-giving evening which will celebrate the big winners of this rally which will have experienced all climates and significant twists and turns, for a week that will be remembered!
