From Barr, the first stage of this Route des Vins Rally launched an assault on the Alsatian peaks and its balloons, without forgetting the typical castles and villages in which it was appropriate to stop for walking tours.
It was under gray weather and increasingly thick fog that the competitors had to climb the foothills of Mont-Saint Odile before reaching the famous Haut-Koenigsbourg castle and the first coffee break / CP where it was possible to venture out for a visit.
Then it was necessary to head towards the Col de la Schlucht for lunch at the Chalet Collet restaurant before going back down into the Valley and passing through the historic center of Ribeauvillé and its colorful traditional buildings. While milder weather appeared, then came the passage to the no less famous (and very touristy) village of Kaysersberg which it was possible to visit.
Colmar, located just a few kilometers away, now welcomes us for the evening and the night, at the Hotel l’Esquisse, a stone’s throw from Little Venice, which the participants discover this evening around a ride in a “little train” to go to a typical restaurant and taste an essential sauerkraut essential to this first Alsatian stage of the Route des Vins.
Appointment is now made tomorrow for the second stage towards Beaune and an itinerary that will end in the heart of the great Burgundy estates, and where we will stay two nights.
