Back on the 6th edition of the Rallye Megève – St-Tropez 2020

Even though postponed from June to September, the 6th edition of the Rallye Megève – St Tropez took place in excellent conditions, thanks to the endorsement and unwavering support of government and local authorities, who have never ceased to help us. support in compliance with health safety standards imposed by the current situation.

IN EXCEPTIONAL CONDITIONS, EXCEPTIONAL ROUTE

It was under bright sunshine and very mild temperatures that the 62 crews met on Monday 14 September for the traditional day of administrative checks scheduled for Place de la Marie in Megève.

A prologue was drawn, in the afternoon, not far from the Megève Altiport for a “discovery” visit of the Pilatus PC12 Jetfly, around a cocktail officially launching the participants in the assault of the 3 stages, 900km, and the 14 passes to be crossed in this 2020 edition, with a lot of new features.

NEW ROUTE THROUGH VAL D’ISÈRE AND COL DE L’ISERAN

For the first stage, the itinerary concocted by Cyril Neveu offered, as an appetizer, the Col des Saisies and the Cormet de Roselend to reach the Tarentaise valley where the first lunch of the rally was organized.

The caravan then headed to the top of the famous Col de l’Iseran and its passage at 2770m never covered since 2015. The Col du Galibier, usually lined with walls of snow in June, then offered a splendid panorama of barren mountains before descending towards Bourg d’Oisans and tackle the ascent of the legendary hairpins of Alpe d’Huez…
